Zoho Zia and Salesforce Agentforce are the AI layers of two very different CRMs. Agentforce is the deeper, more configurable platform, built for companies with complex processes, many systems and the budget and skills to run them. Zia is built into the Zoho suite, runs on Zoho's own models and is usually the faster, more affordable route for small and mid-sized businesses already on Zoho. In most cases the right AI follows the right CRM, not the other way round. This comparison explains the differences so you can decide.

Side-by-side comparison

  • AI models: Agentforce works with leading large language models through the Einstein Trust Layer and adds Koa, a CRM reasoning model announced at Dreamforce 2026. Zia uses Zoho's own Zia LLM family, built in-house.
  • Prebuilt agents: Salesforce offers job-ready agents such as Piper for inbound leads and service agents. Zoho offers agents such as Ask Zia, a Customer Service Agent for Desk, a Deal Analyzer and a Revenue Growth Specialist.
  • Building your own: Agentforce Builder uses topics, instructions and actions such as Flows and Apex. Zia Agent Studio is a no-code, prompt-based builder with more than 700 ready-made actions across Zoho apps.
  • Data: Agentforce can ground agents in Data 360 across many systems. Zia works across the Zoho suite and connects to other tools through Zoho Flow and APIs.
  • Privacy: Salesforce uses masking and zero data retention agreements with model providers. Zoho says data can stay on its own servers without going to outside AI providers.
  • Open connections: both offer MCP servers, so assistants such as Claude can work with CRM data within user permissions.
  • Cost and effort: Agentforce usually needs more licences, setup and specialist skills. Zia is included in many Zoho editions with lower setup effort. Check each vendor's current pricing.

When Agentforce is the better fit

  • You already run Salesforce, or need its depth for complex sales, service or industry processes.
  • Your agents need data from many systems, unified in Data 360.
  • You need advanced testing, monitoring and governance for many agents across teams and regions.
  • You have an admin or partner team to design, build and maintain agents.

When Zia is the better fit

  • You run sales, support and finance on Zoho, especially Zoho One or CRM Plus.
  • You want useful AI quickly, with no-code building and limited technical staff.
  • Data residency and keeping data within one vendor matter to you, for example for DPDP planning in India.
  • Budget is tight and you want AI included in the tools you already pay for.

Five questions to decide

  • Which CRM do your teams use today, and how well is it working?
  • How many systems must your AI agents read from?
  • Who will build and maintain agents after launch?
  • What are your data residency and privacy requirements?
  • What is your realistic budget for licences, AI usage and implementation?

Frequently asked questions

Is Zoho Zia as good as Salesforce Agentforce?

They serve different needs. Agentforce is deeper and more configurable for complex organisations; Zia is simpler, built into Zoho and often faster and cheaper to adopt for small and mid-sized businesses.

Which is cheaper, Zia or Agentforce?

Zia is included in many Zoho editions, while Agentforce usually involves additional licences or usage-based pricing. Check current pricing from each vendor for your users and use cases.

Can Zoho and Salesforce AI connect to Claude?

Yes. Both Salesforce and Zoho offer MCP servers, so MCP-compatible assistants such as Claude can work with CRM data within each user's permissions.

Should we migrate from Zoho to Salesforce for Agentforce?

Only if Salesforce is the better CRM for your processes overall. Migration is a large project; for many Zoho customers, Zia agents deliver the AI benefits without moving.
