AIforce is Salesforce's new interface layer, announced at Dreamforce on 15 September 2026. It brings Salesforce data, workflows, permissions and business rules into the AI tools people already use, such as Claude and Slack, so users and agents can work with CRM data without opening the Salesforce app. The three launch pieces are Claudeforce (Salesforce inside Claude), Slackforce (Salesforce inside Slack) and Agentforce Coworker (an AI assistant inside Lightning). For businesses, the question is no longer whether people will use AI with CRM data, but how to make sure they do it with the right data, the right permissions and clean records.

The three launch pieces

  • Claudeforce: built with Anthropic, it includes a prebuilt MCP server called Salesforce in Claude, with prebuilt sales skills, and a Salesforce development plug-in for Claude Code. Salesforce announced Salesforce in Claude as a beta available to customers.
  • Slackforce: Salesforce inside Slack through Slackbot, Slack CRM for creating and updating records from Slack, shared live interfaces called Slackforce Surfaces and Slack Code for team coding sessions with an agent.
  • Agentforce Coworker: an AI assistant inside the Salesforce Lightning interface that answers questions across your data and can call the Agentforce agents you have already deployed.

How AIforce works under the hood

AIforce sits on top of the rest of the Salesforce platform. Data 360 provides unified data and memory, Customer 360 provides business logic, processes and permissions, Agentforce provides agents, and a Headless Toolkit exposes all of this through MCP servers, APIs, plug-ins and skills. Three design choices matter most for security and governance:

  • Requests run with the asking user's existing permissions, so an assistant only sees what that user can see in Salesforce.
  • Actions are routed back through Salesforce, so validation rules, flows and approvals still apply.
  • Salesforce says business data is used to answer the current request and is not retained by the model provider.

What it means for your team

  • Sales reps can ask for account summaries, update opportunities or prepare for meetings from Claude or Slack instead of switching tabs.
  • Managers can pull pipeline views and next steps in a conversation rather than building a new report.
  • Admins and developers get new ways to extend Salesforce, but also new places where data appears, which need governance.
  • Data quality becomes visible: an AI summary built on duplicate accounts or empty fields will be wrong in front of everyone.

How to prepare your Salesforce org

  • Review profiles, permission sets and sharing rules, especially for users with View All or export rights.
  • Clean the objects people will ask about first: accounts, contacts, opportunities and cases.
  • Document key business definitions, such as what counts as an active customer or a qualified opportunity, so AI answers match how your team talks.
  • Decide which interfaces you will allow (Claude, Slack, Lightning) and who owns each one.
  • Pilot with a small group, collect real questions and fix the data and permission gaps they reveal.
  • Check licensing and pricing with Salesforce, since packaging may change and availability can vary by region.

Frequently asked questions

What is Salesforce AIforce?

AIforce is a Salesforce interface layer announced at Dreamforce 2026 that brings Salesforce data, workflows, permissions and business rules into AI tools such as Claude and Slack, as well as into Lightning through Agentforce Coworker.

What is Claudeforce?

Claudeforce is the Salesforce and Anthropic offering that brings Salesforce into Claude. It includes a prebuilt MCP server called Salesforce in Claude with sales skills, and a Salesforce development plug-in for Claude Code.

Is AIforce secure?

Salesforce says AIforce requests run with the user's existing permissions, actions go back through Salesforce, and business data is not retained by the model provider. Your own permission design and data quality still decide what users can see and do.

Do we need Data 360 or Agentforce to use AIforce?

AIforce builds on the Salesforce platform, including Data 360 and Agentforce, but requirements differ by feature. Confirm with Salesforce which licences each interface needs for your org.
